Ganesh Chaturthi also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi, is observed on the fourth day (chaturthi) of Bhadrapada month 31st August 2022.
The delicious modak (sweet dumplings) are considered to be one of Ganesh's most favourite sweets. He is also called Modakpriya in the scriptures owing to his great love for modak.
Modak means "small part of bliss"or happiness and it symbolises spiritual knowledge. During Ganesh Chaturthi, the puja usually concludes with an offering of 21 or 101 modaks to Ganesha. Modak are made with rice flour shells or wheat flour shells often preferred for this purpose, with grated coconut, dry fruits and jaggery as filling.
Steamed food is preferred for bhog on this day.
As per Purana, these small portions of Modak were the only thing that stopped Ganesh from cravings and hunger.
Hence, it's clear from scriptures,we need to be mindful and portion control with favourite foods to stay happy and healthy.
